This is the date on the plaque situated on the front of the Tudor Barn. But there are good reasons for thinking that it wasn't the year the Barn was built.

1733
The medieval house on Moat Island was bought and demolished
1936
The Tudor Barn and Pleasaunce were opened; the Barn was a library, art gallery and museum; the Pleasaunce as formal gardens.

2003
The Pleasaunce was restored to its former glory thanks to a successful bid by Greenwich Council to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
