Mushrooms of several varieties are seen growing off decaying wood. The song thrush starts to sing to mark out territories in time for next spring. Birds such as the robin and tits start their winter feeding regimes with pigeons, blackbirds and parakeets feasting off the fallen pears. The trees look spectacular in their golden colours.
Encouraging wildlife in the Pleasaunce
A survey done by the London Wildlife Trust on the Pleasaunce has shown the potential for a new woodland walk, wildflower meadow, species-rich hedging and sites for bird boxes. Also, a surprise! (see picture)

Pleasaunce wins prestigious Green Flag Award
The Well Hall Pleasaunce has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag award for three years running.

Strawberries...but no cream please
The strawberries currently available in the Pleasaunce are on the boughs of the tree, arbutus unedo, known as the strawberry tree, which is on the sports ground side of the woodland. Don't be tempted to eat them, they're very sour.

The secrets of two of the Pleasaunce's oldest fruit trees are going to be revealed.

The Pleasaunce is renowned for its unusual trees and it’s no different when it comes to horse chestnuts.

Squirrels are a favourite friend in the Pleasaunce and many are quite tame.

Changing Climate?
The late flowering shrubs in the Pleasaunce this autumn might be a sign of a late autumn..or climatic change.
