The woodland glen in the Pleasaunce offers a range of habitats, both light and shade; also both damp and dry. So there is no shortage of plant interest. The aim has been to cut the grass in the glen late and disposing of the cuttings, so reducing the fertility of the area. By doing this, it is hoped that the wildflower seeds in the ground will emerge. The recent years, this has mainly been cow parsley, which has tended to block out other species. The Parks department is planning to treat this to allow other species to flourish too.
